What Dermaplaning Does

You’ll see smoother, brighter skin the same day. Dermaplaning uses a sterile scalpel to lift off the top layer of dead skin cells along with the fine vellus hair on your face. A standalone treatment takes about 30 minutes, with no downtime.

Its bigger job is what it does for the treatment that follows. With the surface layer reduced, whatever you apply next sinks in more deeply — which is why a lot of our clients book dermaplaning as an add-on to a custom facial or microneedling. It’s also available as a standalone treatment.

What Dermaplaning Helps With

  • Dull, uneven skin tone
  • Rough or built-up surface texture
  • Peach fuzz
  • Skin that looks tired between treatments

What dermaplaning isn’t:
it’s not a wrinkle treatment, and it won’t restructure your skin the way microneedling or a chemical peel will. It’s also not permanent hair removal — the fine hair regrows at its natural pace. Laser hair removal is better for permanent hair reduction. If deeper structural work is what you’re after, we can walk you through better-fit options.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Cutting hair doesn’t change how it regrows. The vellus hair on your face returns at its natural pace and thickness. The myth comes from the blunt edge you feel on freshly cut hair, which reads as coarser but isn’t.

Often, yes. But it depends on what your skin is doing that day. Because there’s no chemical or heat involved, dermaplaning tends to be well-tolerated by sensitive skin. Active rosacea flares, broken capillaries, or inflamed breakouts are reasons to modify or skip the treatment. Come in for a complimentary consultation and we’ll assess your skin together before recommending anything.

Most clients space treatments about every three to four weeks, roughly one skin cycle. The right cadence depends on your skin, your other treatments, and what you’re working toward. Kelly or Sydney will build a schedule with you.

Yes. Dermaplaning is one of the treatments we can safely offer during pregnancy. No chemicals, no heat, nothing absorbed into the skin. If you’re pregnant and want a treatment that keeps your skin feeling like itself, this is a good fit. Please let us know you’re pregnant when you book so we can plan the visit accordingly.
