Yes, these are one in the same.

IPL treatments involve the use of pulses of light that penetrate into the skin. The light energy is absorbed by areas with pigmentation or vascular lesions, which in turn heats. Eliminates the unwanted cells without causing harm to surrounding tissues.

IPL is effective for addressing skin conditions such as sun spots, age spots, freckles, rosacea, broken capillaries and certain types of scars.

Most individuals undergoing IPL treatment report discomfort often likened to a snapping sensation, on the skin. Your provider will make every effort to make your procedure as comfortable as possible.

The number of treatments required may vary depending on the specific condition being addressed and how well your skin reacts to IPL. Usually clients notice improvements after undergoing 3-5 sessions with each session spaced 4 weeks apart.

After an IPL session you might experience some redness or swelling which typically fades within a few hours. Over the week the treated areas may. Gradually shed away revealing smoother and more rejuvenated skin.

To prepare for an IPL session it is advised to avoid sun exposure, tanning beds and self tanning products for 2 weeks prior to treatment. It’s also recommended to discontinue using retinol products or other skin irritants a days before your appointment.

Side effects are mild and short lived such as redness, swelling or darkening of the treated areas. In cases blistering or changes in skin pigmentation may occur. This is all part of the healing process.
